Matt Guernsey | Founder, Guernsey Strategic Advisors

I am a 20 year veteran of the energy and climatetech industries, dedicated to helping clients scale businesses, build high-performing teams, and bring innovative solutions to market.

My approach combines a foundation of technical expertise (mechanical engineering) with business training and decades of hands-on experience. I have advised everyone from pre-seed startups making their first critical moves to major utilities and government agencies managing billion-dollar portfolios.

My Journey

I began my consulting career at Navigant (now Guidehouse), solving grid-integration challenges and supporting R&D programs for utilities, corporations, and government agencies. Over time, my work has expanded to include renewable energy developers and early-stage ventures.

In 2021 I started Guernsey Strategic Advisors alongside a passion project of mine — Arlington Brewing Company! Having stepped away from the brewery’s day-to-day operations in 2024, I am focused full time on my mission: Delivering meaningful, actionable solutions to the people addressing the world’s most pressing energy and climate challenges.

Impact & Focus

I am proud to have served dozens of clients (see about page) and hundreds of founders and innovators. Our "sweet spot" is the early-stage startup ecosystem, where we provide technical and management consulting across marketing, finance, product, and operations. We thrive in cross-functional environments where complex challenges require integrated solutions.
